Many Primary Care Trusts now operate schemes for patients to be treated and obtain medicines from their local pharmacy for minor ailments such as fever, head lice, conjunctivitis, thrush and cystitis . Ask your local pharmacist if a Minor Ailments scheme is operating in your area.

If you are not sure whether you need to see your GP, ask your pharmacist for advice.

Why do we always get ill at weekends when the doctor’s surgery is closed? No worry - ask your local pharmacist for health care advice, if your illness is not suitable for self treatment, they will refer you to the local Out of Hours service.
